The tube is out today, the workers are all on strike. My legs are killing me from so much walking, but DAMN am I gonna be in wicked shape by the time this is over!!
I am SO damn cranky right now and am basically on here to avoid talking to people and snapping at them. If I have to spend the next 2 weeks with these people I don't want them all mad at me for the rest of the trip. Bad idea. In response to Maniville, no we did not go to see the crown jewels although we did go to the tower of London. I've seen them before and didn't feel like spending the extra money to see something I didn't really like the first time around.
Yesterday was amusing after I signed off, we all ran out of clothes and had to do laundry. This resulted in Meredith running up and down the streets of London in a pair of "Mind the gap" boxers and a tank top carrying a load of laundry and trying to sort out everyone's knickers. I got a few honks and stares to say the least.
Today was pretty cool though, we went to buckingham palace to see the changing of the guards, always something to see. But there was one little difference with us, since we're guides we got to watch all this from INSIDE the gates of buckingham palace. Seriously, we walk up and go to the gates and they opened them for us and let us and a couple of other scout groups in. The people in the audience had these expressions like "who the hell are they and why the FUCK are they going into the palace?!?"
The guards were really funny too, during part of the ceremony they came over and talked to us. It was so amusing, because they marched towards us, snapped to full attention then relaxed and grinning said "hi guys" as if we were just there for coffee or something. Another part of the ceremony was one of the guards was holding an irish wolfhound that was a part of the ceremony and he brought it over for us to see. He was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! He wasn't full grown yet so his head only came up to my hip but he was so friendly!!
Our next stop was to go to the Canadian Monument by the palace and snap a few pics, good memories of home. After that we all piled onto the bus to go to Pax Lodge. Pax Lodge is an international girl guide centre. There are four of them in the world. Our Chalet in Switzerland, Our Cabana in Mexico, Pax Lodge in London and Sangum in India. Kinda cool, alot of history there and they had a board of all the guide promise pins from around the world and there were ones from the UAE in there. So proud to have been one of the first girl guides EVER in a troop in that country. Seriously, while I lived over there my best friend Hannah Sowden's mum, who was a guide leader before she moved away from whales to the UAE, started up the first EVER brownie troop in the UAE. My claim to stupid fame ladies and gentelmen.
Other than that, nothing else happened today, and I am now gonna go back to Baden Powel house and pass out for the rest of the day as we are going to STONEHENGE tomorrow!! Yeah baby, yeah!!
Oh, and Maniville, I'm here till Saturday, then we leave for Buxton and Manchester.
