NIKKI IS HERE!!!!! All the way up from Arkensaw. Spent last night eating good food and laughing over the first DVD of X. Nikki got me this great damn book, all the little things that we hate to love. Fucking hilarious.
So, just got back from the university fair at robarts library. That was actually pretty interesting. They had alot of accounts from people who had just come back from all the different universities.
I loved the guy from Kyoto University. The guy had SO many weird stories! He had a ton of really strange jobs and experiences while he was over there. Like working in a host club and having a 56 year old woman give him a really expensive watch cause she liked his teeth. Or finding all the ancient places in the city. and partying in said places. His advice to us: The cops in Kyoto are a good deal more fit than ours, so run away REALLY FAST!! That, or pretend you're just some dumb gaijin out for a jog and can't understand what the hell he's yelling at you.
He was also saying how Kyoto was good because it had a good balance of the traditional Japanese culture vs the modern city culture. Also the fact that his rent was only $90 a month was pretty damn sweet.... He was also saying that there are several traps that you can actually fall into while you're there. Like hanging around with only english speaking people as you will never really get the language or culture that way. Or becoming a hermit and never leaving your rooom.
Also lovely story of hbow different the club scenes are there. And how if you're dancing you have to face the DJ instead of the kinda writhing mass that is the English club scene. And how if you wanted to talk to a girl and or guy you have to stand in front of them and block their view of the DJ to get their attention.
