Okay, KT did something that once again piqued my interest, Damn you and your interesting subjects!!
She made a post Here that I found rather amusing about the different things that people see in her physical appeance and everyday wear. KT gives of an image of easy ellgance paired with abrasive enjoyment that is truly HER.
She got me thinking on that, and about what my own appearance says to the world in general.
My brothers had a rather large role in ruling out wearing girlier clothes fairly fast. The reasons? A) Dresses may be nice and girly, but they're also totally pointless and damn annoying in everyday life and: B) Baggy pants are way more fun to wear and don't end up in embarassing stories about how I accidently flashed someone cause I was a clutz C) Social norms are meant to be challenged, it's more fun that way.
Boys pants are paired with entirely feminine shirts and jackets. Big black boots and black fuzzy mittens. Someone once told me that my style was like a crossover of high school and university, skirting the edge between socially accepted dressy and a rather childish tendency to try and shock people with what I wear every once in a while. I may be considered an adult now, but that doesn't mean I have to grow up quite yet!
Proving this is the fact that accesories on me belong in another category all their own. if I'm going for dressy I wear my glasses, if not I wear the mismatched contacts that change my eyes colours. Jewelry can range between looking like the latest thing out of a Goth shop to being my grandmothers necklace and rings. My hair has gone from simple styles to brightly dyed spikes and just about everything in between. I tote around a huge variety of bags with an even bigger variety of insulting and amusing buttons that I've been collecting for literally years.
The message KT asked? You never know what to expect, self image to me is all about having a bit of fun. I may not excell at anything specific in life, but I do aim to keep it interesting at least.
