..:Irreplaceable Life Skill #5: Procrastination.:..
1. What's the first book you remember reading that didn't have pictures? How did you discover it? That would be either the Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit. It's a family tradition with us, my dad read it to us before we could read for ourselves and ever since I've read both of them at least once a year. So I was a geek in all of my earliest memories as well!
2. What's the last book you re-read? (was it for a class?) Re-read huh? It wasn't for a class, most of the things I read for class now are articles and essays, not true books. But the last book I re-read was the Jaqueline Carey's Kushiel Series, just finished re-reading Kushiel's Avatar this morning.
3. Name a book in your Amazon cart or wishlist (or the equivalent) and tell us why you want it. My wishlist of books is a book unto itself. But at the top of the list at the moment is the new Jaqueline Carey book Banewreaker. KT lent it to me and I've been trying to get a chance to go up to chapters ever since.
4. Do you choose books by author or by subject/topic? For reading a new series? Mostly by author or by word of mouth. I'll go to a friends house and ask about the books they have and check them out if they sound interesting.
5. List three classics you read in school and whether you liked them at the time and what you think about the experience in retrospect.
1) To kill a mockingbird - Hate the book. Hated it then and I hate it now, still think it should be abolished from the curiculum. I think some of the reasoning behind my hating it so much is because of the teacher I had at the time, she could turn a person against their favourite book forever.
2) Hamlet - I love shakespeare, I know it's sad but I must have reread every assigned chapter through at least 3 times just for the hell of it. looking back I think it was, again, influenced by my teacher. She had a passion for shakespeare that I have yet to see anyone match and a talent for bringing any story to life.
3) Homer's Odyssey - Read it for history class and have loved it. The writing style is a little hard to deal with in big doses but the intricate plot and amazing characters more than make up for it all.
6. What book do you have in your bag or on your bedside table now? You're going to be SO sorry that you asked this. The Silver Wolf The Skystone The singing Sword Eagles Brood The Magician The Narnia Chronicles Path of Fate Banewreaker Tigana The Lions of Al-Rassan Book of guilty Pleasures Good Omens (Note:This is just on one of the tables in my room)
In my bag: Daughter of the Blood and Firestarter
In my bed (!!!): A large stack of textbooks and mangas that I'm trying to sort out before I move, but nothing really stands out.
Well, have chores now. KT: Enjoy the concert for me!
