Good gods DAMN am I ever tired. Lesse, last time I posted was just after the One of a Kind show. Aparently that went really well for AT, because she was in a good enough mood after the show to give me and Kat a gift of... well, anything we wanted out of the studio. Seeing as most things my size had actually been sold (or I could mooch off Kat,) I picked out one of her handmade bags that I'd been drooling over the whole show. Small and funky and with tons of pockets all over the place and really cool fabric. Happy face.
While at the show, my present from Tiff for Christmas was actually a ticket to Star Wars in Concert. It was played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and was... well, amazing doesn't really even cover it, I'd say experience of a lifetime is coming close. There are days when I really really LOVE being a fan.
Aparently, a whole lot of other people enjoy being fans too, that's the ACC. It's full. When they turned the lights off? About 200 lightsabers lit up. Fans are awesome.
This the actual Han Solo carbonite bloc from the movie. Tiny tinny stormtrooper not included.
Had Christmas with the family. Mum and Dad got me snow tires for my car, the difference is awesome, even if I did almost hit a pedestrian the first time I drove with them because I'm USED to correcting for shitty traction in the winter. Got a little hand knitted Q doll from my little sis, it is adorable and really really sweet of her.
Owen and Mon got me this really interesting silhouetted candle holder. Gave me a real fright the first time I woke up in the middle of the night and saw it on my shelf. I had forgotten that I had it and all I saw was a white face above me glowing in the moonlight. There may have been screaming involved, but I deny everything.
Drew and Kat's present to me was a bunch of mixed CDS and a ticket to the Sarah Slean concert. Every time I see her I forget that as good as she is in studio? She's about 100 times better live.
She did a bunch of duets with her husband, Royal Wood. (Great name and bloody GORGEOUS to boot. Also really fun sense of humour, Sarah is a lucky lucky girl.) She also pulled up Buck 65, a local Toronto rapper who has a great growly voice and the tag team of him and her singing her lyrics was facinating. Then she decided to pull up the last special guest: Divine Brown. My jaw hit the floor. I've actually tried to get tickets for her shows before and couldn't, so suffice it to say that it was a pleasant suprise.
I have to say one of the best bits was her and her husband doing a duet together. Before telling us the song, She prefaced it by saying: "I've known this song since I was little, and I still can't decide if it's a sweet thing, about young love and how uncontrollable it all is. Or, if it's really about date rape. Enjoy!!" She then flounced off like a maniac with her husband staring after her before they started singing Baby it's Cold Outside. Priceless.
I really can't stay (but baby it's cold outside) I've got to go away (but baby it's cold outside) This evening has been (been hoping that you'd drop in) So very nice (i'll hold your hands, they're just like ice) My mother will start worry (beautiful whats your hurry) My father will be pacing the floor (listen to the fireplace roar) So really i'd better scurry (beautiful please don't hurry) but maybe just a half a drink more (put some records on while i pour) the neighbors might faint (baby it's bad out there) say what's in this drink (no cabs to be had out there) i wish i knew how (your eyes are like starlight now) to break this spell (i'll take your hat, your hair looks swell) i ought to say "no, no, no sir" (mind if i move in closer) at least i'm gonna say that i tried (what's the sense in hurtin' my pride) i really can't stay (oh baby don't hold out)
both:baby it's cold out side
i simply must go (but baby it's cold outside) the answer is no (but baby it's cold outside) your welcome has been (how lucky that you droped in) so nice and warm (look out the window at that storm) my sister will be suspicious (gosh your lips look delcious) my brother will be there at the door (waves upon the tropical shore) my maiden aunts mind is vicious (gosh your lips are delicous) but maybe just a cigarette more (never such a blizzard before) i've gotta get home (but baby you'd freeze out there) say lend me a coat (it's up to your knees out there) you've really been grand (i thrill when you touch my hand) but don't you see? (how can you do this thing to me?) there's bound to be talk tomorrow (think of my lifelong sorrow) at least there will be plenty implied (if you got namonia and died) i really can't stay (get over that old out)
both:baby it's cold baby it's cold outside
Really really fun how they played off each other while singing.
Working over the holidays was definitely an education. I have 2 conclusions from this: 1 - Head office are fucking INSANE. 2 - People come in 2 varieties: Awesome and Asshole.
Most people have been... well, absolutely hellish to be truthful. But the other day, a guy came up to the cash to pay (cute guy too) and asked me why I looked so upset. I explained that I had just been screamed at by a customer, was having a terrible day, and had no one at home for Christmas Eve as the family was heading off to Florida. He smiled, payed for his purchase, then dropped to one knee and proceeded to recite the entire Balcony skit from Romeo and Juliet, grin at me, and walk out the door.
I didn't get your name random awesome man, but if you ever come back I'm taking you out for cookies, you made my day 100% better.
Another thing that makes life pretty awesome? Go here and type in anything and laugh. Alot. I love this, it only pulls up truly "Irish" sites, because what more do you really need?
Now, seeing as it's 12am, I am going to crash and spend all of tomorrow enjoying my first real day off this holiday. Eggnogg and cookies? Here I come!!
3 days setting up, 11 days of the show and one nights tear down later I am fully convinced of something I had always suspected in life:
The more creative and productive an artist is, the more Batshit-Crazy they are in reality.
No. really.
On the other hand, bought some fun christmas presents for people, spent the show wearing some brilliant clothes, got some great new ideas that I want to try out, got a few dates out of it all, and, of course, the highlight of the show?
I spent the last day of it wearing hammer pants and convinced 3 people to try on a pair and do the dance with me.
An extensive music collection, boredom and portable media are very very dangerous things indeed.
I also convinced the moster factory man that I needed my own monster as there wasn't one that really suited me yet, he promised to correct that grevious error immediately.
Anyone else ever had the WORST urge for something you never eat? Guy in my office, eats mcdonalds, literally, every day. And usually it turns my stomach to even smell that crap. But today I wanted nothing more than a big, greasy Cheeseburger.
Mmmmm, meat.
Need to clean the damn apartment tonight. It currently looks like a bomb made of bowls and cooking utensils has gone off in the kitchen. And the cats are starting to eye them as if they might be growing legs soon.
Hmmm, stuck at work and craving bacon.... I wonder what Kristen would taste like...
Yes, I'm bored again, and really rather hung-over from last night, and you all know what that leads to: Internet trolling.
I got a kick out of this:
The sticker on it apparently reads "Godzilla Egg". I don't even like Watermelon and I'd be tempted to buy the damn thing. Founnd here. Also, this is what will inevitably happen whenever I end up having kids. Because that's awesome and I would have loved to have that room growing up....
And then there is this comic. Whoever wrote this is my hero, I think I might try and see if I can get a print of it for Beej, it's suitably ridiculous for her.
So, this week has..... blown rather royally actually. Just work and stress and crap, tag onto it spending 2 hrs on the same stretch of highway and then coming home to find that someone had stolen my parking spot.
It was a bad week.
Hopefully this weekend at east will be better. Did my first Saturday shift and it went OK (now we'll see on monday if I've horribly fucked everything up). Am currently at the Anime/Comics/Clothes/Sci-fi flea market at the Toronto reference library. Made a bit of money (and spent a bit of money). So that's OK. Going to go see 3:10 to Yuma tonight (please, please, please don't suck!!)
And the man next to me has just made fun of me for having a spending problem. Complete strangers are mocking me.
Fun.
Off to Caledon tonight, then to Peterborough tomorrow to visit Beej in res. Mock her a bit. Eat a bit. The usual.
