    ..:Um....Hi?:..

So it turns out that working 2 jobs ACTUALLY equalled me working literally every day for the last two months. In between everything else I was working to finish in the last little while, blogging kinda fell to the wayside. On the other hand, I managed to pay off a VERY big chunk of my debt, fixed my poor much abused Puddles, and got pretty much everything I was aiming to get finished this spring all done.

So, have moved into my new room. Took a week of painting and fixing and literally down to the minute moving, but it's done and I have all of my new space all worked out. Love having the bigger room for several reasons; I get to see real sunlight in the mornings again, I'm not facing the school and am therefore not woken up by children screaming at recess, I actually have room to breathe in my new space and I managed to organize all my belongings in a way I actually really feel comfy with. There's something to be said for a personal living space that is definitely MINE.

Had the joint birthday party with Kat at velvet underground. Had an absolute blast, dressed up in steampunk/gothy gear, went out for sushi then went dancing. I really missed just letting lose like that, tearing up the dance floor with the girls and not letting any guys in. Have GOT to do that more often!

Have been working for both the clothing store and the book store till last week when I had finally managed to work up enough capital to quit the clothing store. And as much as I would have LOVED to have burned my bridges there, unfortunately I wanted the references they could give me and couldn't really go out all blaze of glory (even after they begged me to stay on...)

Working at the bookstore however is a blast. I get to talk with intelligent people. EVERY DAY!! Do you know how much I missed that? And the constant exposure to the world of books doesn't hurt anything either! We had the toystore opening a few weeks back, had alot of fun, I got one of 2 reactions to my costume: either little girls ran up and said I was wearing such a pretty dress... or they quite literally ran away screaming. No, really. I had 6 girls run away from me that day, had a blast though!

Working at the also store led to me meeting the author of the book of awesome, based on the website 1000 awesome things, which is pretty much guarenteed to make you smile. It proves life truly is full of awesome things...

I also participated in the boobquake last week, go here for a bit more info, but needless to say, girl scientists and feminists and just people everywhere across north america dressed as complete skanks to prove that boobs do not cause earthquakes. Yes you read that right, hit the link, trust me, it's worth it. (And the day was DEFINITELY worth it for all the brilliant looks we got!)

Kat and Shilo had their fashion show last week too, went FANTASTICALLY. They were the headliners this year and worked their butts off to get the collection out, but it was damn well worth it. (And yes, that is my brother modeling!)

Go Here and become a fan, they deserve it! Another notable collection was the girl who cam on the day after Kat with the Dr. Who inspired line. Yes, you read that right, it was brilliant!

And yes, that is a Dalek dress.

Hmmmm, a few random other tabs to close out, Kat linked me this, well worth a look as the talent this takes is kinda scarey... This is by far the coolest thing that Dan Akroyd has ever done, and by gods I want one! Also, who wants to join Starfleet with me? *grins like a lunatic* Speaking of trek, go over to Nikki's blog here as she has, by far, the best first con report EVER. I would never, EVER wash that hand!!

Alright, and lastly there was this past Sunday. My old friend James and his fiance (now wife) Jenna finally tied the knot. It was an absolutely beautiful day, slightly windy, the dress was incredible... but of course, being my friends, things went weirdly wrong. Firt? Jenn and james are both electricians, and the mikes and electronics had a few... technical difficulties. Like preview to a Supernatural episode of electronic difficulties. At a pair of professional elevtricians wedding. Gods.

Also, the wedding itself was outdoors, and there was a little lined alcove made of 12 ft tall potted trees placed in a circle and decorated with crystals and silk and lamps. However, being a windy day, the couple was in the middle of their vows when one of the trees fell on the bride. And when exchanging rings 5 minutes later it was the grooms turn to be walloped by foliage. The ceremony finished with matching groomsman holding up the trees on either side. Luckily Jenna has a great sense of humour and was practically killing herself laughing the whole time. They're definitely well-matched.

Further proof that they make a great couple? The introduction of the married couple was set to Muse's "Supermassive Black Hole", and their first dance to Bowie's "Under Preassure." Brilliant! We also had a bit of a game throughout the night, they had a giant pair of die, and couples coming up to roll them, Even number, the couple had to kiss, odd number and the bride and groom had to kiss. So my friend Kyle went up, grabbed the mike, said "I'm so confident that I'll get an odd number, I'm gonna bring Keith up with me." These gentlemen were 2 of the groomsman, and they rolled an even number. I love that wedding!!

The guests had our own game going, we had everyone pick a single word, any word that they could think of off the top of our heads, and then we strung them together into three word clusters. Then we brought each phrase up to the bartenders and had them invent a drink for that phrase, and make up 15 shots. Let's just say that by the end of the night we were all just a liiiitle bit tipsy. Some of the more memorable ones were: "Professor Moriarty's Power-Ballad", "Magic Carpet Ride", "Incorrigible Peanut Music" and "Red Weiner Bubble", after that I kinda lost track....

All in all an interesting few months, and looks like the next few aren't going to be any quieter.

    This is gonna be fun.

    ..:Christmas and Crazy People:..

Good gods DAMN am I ever tired. Lesse, last time I posted was just after the One of a Kind show. Aparently that went really well for AT, because she was in a good enough mood after the show to give me and Kat a gift of... well, anything we wanted out of the studio. Seeing as most things my size had actually been sold (or I could mooch off Kat,) I picked out one of her handmade bags that I'd been drooling over the whole show. Small and funky and with tons of pockets all over the place and really cool fabric. Happy face.

While at the show, my present from Tiff for Christmas was actually a ticket to Star Wars in Concert. It was played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and was... well, amazing doesn't really even cover it, I'd say experience of a lifetime is coming close. There are days when I really really LOVE being a fan.

Aparently, a whole lot of other people enjoy being fans too, that's the ACC. It's full. When they turned the lights off? About 200 lightsabers lit up. Fans are awesome.

This the actual Han Solo carbonite bloc from the movie. Tiny tinny stormtrooper not included.

Had Christmas with the family. Mum and Dad got me snow tires for my car, the difference is awesome, even if I did almost hit a pedestrian the first time I drove with them because I'm USED to correcting for shitty traction in the winter. Got a little hand knitted Q doll from my little sis, it is adorable and really really sweet of her.

Owen and Mon got me this really interesting silhouetted candle holder. Gave me a real fright the first time I woke up in the middle of the night and saw it on my shelf. I had forgotten that I had it and all I saw was a white face above me glowing in the moonlight. There may have been screaming involved, but I deny everything.

Drew and Kat's present to me was a bunch of mixed CDS and a ticket to the Sarah Slean concert. Every time I see her I forget that as good as she is in studio? She's about 100 times better live.

She did a bunch of duets with her husband, Royal Wood. (Great name and bloody GORGEOUS to boot. Also really fun sense of humour, Sarah is a lucky lucky girl.) She also pulled up Buck 65, a local Toronto rapper who has a great growly voice and the tag team of him and her singing her lyrics was facinating. Then she decided to pull up the last special guest: Divine Brown. My jaw hit the floor. I've actually tried to get tickets for her shows before and couldn't, so suffice it to say that it was a pleasant suprise.

I have to say one of the best bits was her and her husband doing a duet together. Before telling us the song, She prefaced it by saying: "I've known this song since I was little, and I still can't decide if it's a sweet thing, about young love and how uncontrollable it all is. Or, if it's really about date rape. Enjoy!!" She then flounced off like a maniac with her husband staring after her before they started singing Baby it's Cold Outside. Priceless.

    I really can't stay
    (but baby it's cold outside)
    I've got to go away
    (but baby it's cold outside)
    This evening has been
(been hoping that you'd drop in)
    So very nice
(i'll hold your hands, they're just like ice)
    My mother will start worry
    (beautiful whats your hurry)
My father will be pacing the floor
    (listen to the fireplace roar)
    So really i'd better scurry
    (beautiful please don't hurry)
but maybe just a half a drink more
(put some records on while i pour)
    the neighbors might faint
    (baby it's bad out there)
    say what's in this drink
(no cabs to be had out there)
    i wish i knew how
(your eyes are like starlight now)
    to break this spell
(i'll take your hat, your hair looks swell)
i ought to say "no, no, no sir"
(mind if i move in closer)
at least i'm gonna say that i tried
(what's the sense in hurtin' my pride)
    i really can't stay
    (oh baby don't hold out)

    both:baby it's cold out side

    i simply must go
    (but baby it's cold outside)
    the answer is no
    (but baby it's cold outside)
    your welcome has been
(how lucky that you droped in)
    so nice and warm
(look out the window at that storm)
    my sister will be suspicious
    (gosh your lips look delcious)
my brother will be there at the door
    (waves upon the tropical shore)
my maiden aunts mind is vicious
    (gosh your lips are delicous)
but maybe just a cigarette more
    (never such a blizzard before)
    i've gotta get home
(but baby you'd freeze out there)
    say lend me a coat
(it's up to your knees out there)
    you've really been grand
(i thrill when you touch my hand)
    but don't you see?
(how can you do this thing to me?)
there's bound to be talk tomorrow
    (think of my lifelong sorrow)
at least there will be plenty implied
(if you got namonia and died)
    i really can't stay
    (get over that old out)

    both:baby it's cold
    baby it's cold outside

Really really fun how they played off each other while singing.

Working over the holidays was definitely an education. I have 2 conclusions from this: 1 - Head office are fucking INSANE. 2 - People come in 2 varieties: Awesome and Asshole.

Most people have been... well, absolutely hellish to be truthful. But the other day, a guy came up to the cash to pay (cute guy too) and asked me why I looked so upset. I explained that I had just been screamed at by a customer, was having a terrible day, and had no one at home for Christmas Eve as the family was heading off to Florida. He smiled, payed for his purchase, then dropped to one knee and proceeded to recite the entire Balcony skit from Romeo and Juliet, grin at me, and walk out the door.

I didn't get your name random awesome man, but if you ever come back I'm taking you out for cookies, you made my day 100% better.

Another thing that makes life pretty awesome? Go here and type in anything and laugh. Alot. I love this, it only pulls up truly "Irish" sites, because what more do you really need?

Now, seeing as it's 12am, I am going to crash and spend all of tomorrow enjoying my first real day off this holiday. Eggnogg and cookies? Here I come!!

    ..:Parents and Kids:..

You ever have those bipolar-type days, when things are either spectacular or terrible?

Yeah, this was one of those ones,

Got in on time to open up the store, forgot how to disarm the codes and accidently set off the burgalar alarm. Took 20min to get it shut off while the nice security guards were firing questions at me. Two of my employees called in. The week of back to school shopping. We usually sell more this week than we do all SUMMER. And it was just me and Sam in the store today.

I hate it when that happens.

I had 2 moms in the store today that I had to have security excort out of the store because they got in a screaming fit over a twoonie. The 2 mom's kids had found a twoonie on the floor and both mom's claimed it was theirs. And while the children sat there quietly and behaved perfectly, the 2 moms behaved like two year olds and had to be escorted out after they refused to listen to me and leave.

    A Twoonie.

Gods I hate my species sometimes.

Coming home was quite a bit more fun. Chatted with jen, saw a man who looked JUST like Hercules go roaring past me in a Jeep. Came home to happy cats who had all behaved and the cutest sight of children outside of a con.

The 3 year old and the 5 year old who live a few doors down from me were out on their front yard dressed in full Karate Gi and having a lightsaber fight. (Complete with dialogue and sound effects)

The giggle I got out of that almost made today worth it.

    .:Thursday, March 12:.

    ..:Count 'em out:..

OK, so, my recapped life for the last few months. Am no longer working for the Evil-Trucking-Company-O-Doom (tm). Unfortunately got laid off in November due to seasonal slowdowns.

Of course, with my wonderful luck, a week and a half after I became unemployed and therefore unable to afford repairs, my beautiful compy suffered a rather inglorious death. So naturally there has been no blogging. It has slumbered ever since, waiting for the moment when it can re-awaken and TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!! BWA HA HA HA!!!

... ahem. Sorry, read FH recently, it affects me.

So, spent the tag end of November and all of December going to a series of successively more frustrating interviews, and bumming about with Jenn, Tiff and KT who had come home for a visit. Was fun, went to the spa for Christmas (awesome, really really awesome), spent the whole day up there bumming about in the hot pools and saunas and such, surrounded by trees that looked gilded in glass from the condensation freezing to ice, and shaking icicles out of our own hair. Spent some time in one of the warm sun rooms, 15 ft windows in the middle of winter, and us lying about in bathing suits, very discordant, sweet.

Unfortunately, December was also spent packing up as loss of job = loss of money = moving into Brampton house so I can afford to eat.

So, I spent a few weeks up at the house in Brampton, painting what was to be my room and buying various fixtures and such, then moved in mid-December with Little odds and ends coming up as they would for the rest of the month.

Really enjoy living there tho, Brampton, not so much, but I missed living in an actual house. Room for my 2 cats and Kat and Drew's 2 cats (yes we have 4 cats, feel free to make jokes). A real kitchen, with a variety of appliances and more than one pan in the whole place, oh! And a sis-in-law who loves to cook and feed people amazing meals every night, all I have to do is whatever meat I may want to eat as they're both vegetarians. Also get access to the studio, which is amazing, they have so many funky tools and supplies and such that I would usually never think of but now my brain has practically exploded with art ideas. V. Cool.

So, spent the first week of Jan re-painting the living room and hall as I had nothing better to do and Kat and Drew were on vacation, turned out fairly well if I do say so myself. Still have to tackle the bathrooms and the kitchen, but that is gonna be a weekend project (if I ever get another free one that is).

    Then came the jobs.

I have; not one, not two, but count 'em, three jobs at the moment.

Monday to Friday I work 8-5 at an auto shop doing admin work, really nice company, swanky office as we work mainly with BMW, and some really great people to work with. Then, I grab my car or a train and haul ass out to Woodbine where I'm an assistant manager at one of the stores out there, good people, some real ding-bats too, and good DE-stressing with the cleaning. Then, if I have the time, Fridays and Saturday nights I can be found tending bar for parties in the GTA.

I've been doing this for almost a month now, I'm just a wee bit tired.

But, I'm slowly clawing my way back to financial security, and hoping to save enough to head out to BC for a few weeks this summer (anyone wanna come?).

In the meantime, I have practically no real life aside from being dragged out by friends and siblings for movies and such, but you know, I sleep really really well now and I'm rather proud of myself really.

And this past weekend? Was the Watchmen weekend. Good gods did I love that movie, absolutely brilliant. PERFECTLY cast, the changes added to the story, and JDM was awesome as usual (I love that man). So. Very. Happy. Also? May gets us a bunch of freaking amazing movies this year; Public Enemies (Christian Bale, and Johnny Depp as old school cops and robbers, squee!), Wolverine (commence drooling. Also the new Terminator movie (after the most recent trailer it looks like it actually might not suck, altho all the ships look a hell of a lot like Serenity...) Up (new Pixar, totally going to that with Tiff, she's always a blast to see those with) and the newest Star Trek movie, which, with each successive trailer I see I just get MORE excited about. Again, so. Very. Happy.

So, this weekend is dinner with Jenn, hopefully in a few weeks I can drag her out to see Fast & Furious with me. (yeah, yeah, laugh it up, but that man is my guilty pleasure).

My Birthday is in a few weeks as well, not really that excited, another year, ho-hum. I think I'll just do a night out with the girls....

Relationships.... have been an absolute nightmare. A series of dumb guys, one weird stalkery guy who won't take a hint, one girl whom it unfortunately didn't work with as I never get to see her, and one guy who is currently unavailable. Bugger.

Hmm, at work now, office is freezing cold for some reason, I am praising the genius who invented those little hand and boot warmers, for they are absolutely AWESOME and have kept me sane today, off to work at the store tonight, should probably get back to work now. You know, productivity and all that.

    .:Tuesday, October 14:.

    ..:Thanksgiving and Thinking:..

Am back from the Cottage. Was V. fun. Although very very crowded. Me, Beej, Mum, Dad, Drw, Kat, Owen AND Mon all under one roof. Plus the dog and my two monsters. Yeah, crowded.

It was good though, we haven't had the whole family (including Kat and Mon) together for any good amount of time in quite a while. It was really really funny to see how we all kinda compare with how we live. All of us brought notebook computers up with us, Mum, Dad and Kat for doing work and school stuff, Drew for watching things, Owen just got his as a present and I brought mine to clean it up while I had a bit of free time. We also all brought a bunch of comics, which all got swapped and traded and passed about a bit as all good books should.

Went down to the lake as well, it currently has a species of fish in it that's... really not supposed to be there. It's a type of mudskipper, butt ugly and I have a feeling really bad for the lake...

Saw Dana (one of my dads good friends from the Emirates.) Mocked alot and had a bit too much to drink (as always). Spent 3 hours driving home on monday, wasn't too bad, damn hot though, especially with 3 people, lots of luggage as well as 2 unfortunate cats.

Got home, was unpacking the car and immediately got invited to Jenn and Bills' thanksgiving dinner. Mmmmmm, roast lamb.... As it stands now I've had 3 thanksgiving dinners and have enough leftovers to choke a horse. And there is Pie, oh gods is there Pie.

I love the fall, pumpkin flavoured everything and halloween and carving pumpkins and good food. Driving through the country when the whole world looks like it's on fire, and just enough cold for it to nip and for me to wear coats without it being too bad. Being able to wander toronto in full ren-gear and demon contacts and not have the mundies give me a second glance... I love the fall...

Am going crazy at work recently, Brandi, the data-entry person, has been off sick for 5 days in a row noe. Not good. And one of the people in the office has spent most of today in a massive shouting match with a driver, amusing, but also not terribly fun.

Have had alot of time to think recently, and am seriously considering a few options with the whole housing.... thing. If Jenn moves out in December and Tiff can't move in, and I can't find a roomate I think I'll move in with Drew and Kat, they have the room and it's a good distance from work, and rent would go down. If Tiff does move in I think I'll quit, try and pick up a job in the city, and look into taking some evening and summer courses over the next little while.

Either of these are pretty temorary though, still thinking I want to move out to Vancouver after the 2010 Olympics and try to go to UBC out there. I dunno, thoughts anyone?

This weekend looks to be rather mad, parties and the Zombie walk and shopping, sweet! Have also decided that Meredith WILL get in shape even if it kills her (which it might really). I am so sick of being tubby it's not funny and now thanksgiving is over so I REALLY have no damn excuse in the world.

So tonight, it's back to the weights and the cycling, at least now that I have my I-phone I can watch TV and stuff while I'm doing it.

Ah, all the line just lit up on the phone, time to get back to work.

    .:Wednesday, September 24:.

    ..:Pirates and problems:..

Okay, so, it has been..... pretty much ages since I've blogged properly. Lessee, had talk like a pirate day of course, my little sister crashed at my place for the weekend and we met tiff for cheescake. Then proceeded to swagger our way home and try a bunch of different mixes of all the booze and other liquids in my fridge to see what was actually palatable.

Fireball whiskey and coke? Very very good. Amaretto and pretty much anything? Also very very good. Vodka? Evil. And that is all I will say on that matter.

Tiff bummed out on me and shopping for the 2nd time (boo-urns) so me and beej spent the day bumming about the apartment watching Justice League and the Labyrinth. David Bowies eyebrows are terrifying, and he really needs to lay off the glitter, but DAMN do I love that movie.

KT is back home again, unfortunately, not for fun reasons, but because her Grandma died. This month really seems to suck balls for that kin of stuff, everyone I kow has pretty much had to go to a funeral at least once this month, and poor Chrissy at work 4 times in the last month, and 3 of those were family members.

    God? You suck.

Speaking of work, this past week was rather... unique. For those who don't know what I do, I'm in charge of getting all paperwork cleared and sent through with Canada Customs properly and with getting revises. This means that if freight turns out to be more than someone had origionally booked, or if there were extra charges or if they just annoy the boss enough, that I'm in charge of getting the revisions out of them and getting more money assigned to an order.

Generally this is pretty easy, you call, explain what happened and people send more money (if only that happened in my life), but every once in a while you get the assholes. You know them, people whom, no matter what reality, other people or occasionally the laws of physics state: they have to be right.

These are the people who insist that we can drive between California and Ontario in one night, who will argue to death that you quoted them something other than the standard rate and will try to get a discount, or some of the time will tell you to fuck off and just not pay the bill. Alot of the time I get those calls. We have a few girls here in the department, but I seem to be the one that they all turn over calls that are going to turn into a shouting match in one way or another. Why? Because I'm damn good at it, I'm a quick thinker and know how to adapt an argument to get my point across and can usually talk the other party down into seeing my side.

This does, however, have a pretty standard side effect: alot of people in the industry think I'm a bitch. I'm the one they send when Things Go Wrong, so I tend to get a bad rep even though most of the time I'm very polite to customers and really fairly cheerful at work.

That all being said, I got called into the office last week to talk to the owner. After the usual smalltalk stuff, he started talking about gas prices and the state of the industry and all the things that can go wrong and cause us to loose a customer. And all I could think was 'oh fuck I'm gonna get laid off again.' Not a fun thought. And then he came out with the insulting thing: "Meredith.... there have been complaints about you...." Well ya think? You hired me to do a shit job, which I'm good at, that causes alot of people to get very very angry with me. My dispatchers, any time they've buggered up or need to break bad news on to someone, pass the buck on to me, so yeah people get annoyed.

I think basically that the company isn't doing as well as it had hoped it might this year and now they're looking for reasons to let someone go. So it basically all boiled down to one more complaint against me and I'm gone. Well whop-de-fuck. Honestly, I hate it when people play mind games. And that is what this is: he'd called a bunch of other people into the office right after me to "talk" so I have a pretty damn strong suspicion that he's trying to motivate the lot of us by threatening our jobs. I don't need that, Frank used to do that and it drove me fucking BATTY.

So, one more thing gets put on me and I get yelled at for it? I'm gone, I'll just pick up a bartender gig or a job at Chapters, surrounded by booze or books, or hell, maybe just combine the 2. I hate people who play mind games, and while my current bosses are better than most, they still do. We'll see, I just hate job hunting, so either way it's gonna suck.

Apartment stuff: Jenn has made the final offer on her property, so she's pretty much got it all in the bag and all that's left is signing all the papers and getting everything built and installed, so it looks like she might actually make her deadline of moving out of the apartment by December. Tiff is still in the running for the Universal studios job out in Japan and I really am torn. This would be an amazing experience for her, and a big boost for her career if she does manage to go: but a part of me still wishes that she's bloody well stay in the country at least. She has put forth a possible suggestion though: She'll find out in December if she's going or not, and if she can't I pretty much have 3 choices:
-Pray that a friend or hell, a friend of a friend can move in
-Advertise on the U of T network (not bad, but I really do hate some students)
-Advertise on Craigslist (possibly lifethreatening and an overall very squicky idea)

    Bugger.

Have been having some disturbing as fuck dreams too, as in I have actually woken Jenn up screaming one night. This keeps up and I might actually cave and go see a therapist. (and I really do hate those fuckers) Have been having a pretty bad run of physical crap go wrong too. Food, and I do mean pretty much any food here, is OK while I'm eating it, but about an hour later I feel like my stomach is staging a revolt and has recruited half my other organs in the battle. Blah. At this rate I'm going to be subsiding on soup by Christmas. And my freaking JOINTS hurt. Me and Beej were gonna wander down around bloor street on sunday, but I ended up scrubbing on her cause I couldn't actually stand without my joints feeling like I could pop apart like a mister potatoe-head doll at any minute. And the first person to suggest I go see a doctor is having a cat flung at them, I have seen a doc, and pretty much all they do is drain me dry and suggest simple foods. Useless buggers.

But tonight, gonna head home, meet up with Jesse for dinner, then a bit of a movie fest and sleep for at least 10 hours. Likely with the cats locked in the living room so the little fuckers don't wake me up again like they did last night. (The fire alarm went off, that didn't wake me up, the fucking cat STEPPING on my EYE did.)

Now back to work, and pretending I actually give a flying fuck and am happy to be here.
    Joy.

    ..:Rude people and racism:..

So, got up a bit earlier than usual today, made the effort to actual head in to the gym. I rather like going in really early as there was literally only 5 other people there, and three were supervisors.

So I sat down at one of the weight machines, and right away the guy next to me lets out a shit eating grin and grabs a pair of handheld weights about 20 lbs heavier than the ones he had been working with. You all know the type, brainless jocks that think big bulky muscles will immediately make a girl swoon and pant. Dumb tosser.

Which is why it was immensely satisfying to see the dumbass drop a weight on his foot and hop about like a little girl.

One of the things I find I have really not missed about working in trucking is the rampant racism employed by... pretty much everyone in the industry. Anything that goes wrong is immediately associated to the driver being a "dumb paki" and everyone laughs. How is that funny? One of the women in the office spent a half hour or so this morning ranting about how immigrants are taking jobs away from those who "deserve" to have them. I got news for you, we're all immigrants, except for the native ammericans none of us "deserve" to be here, you have to earn it, and a hell of a lot of immigrants work alot fucking harder to earn their place in Canada than the "Canadians" do. Myself included, I take alot of things for granted and I know it, health insurance, schooling, literacy. Much as we bitch about our government and our lives, Canadians have it made.

I just don't GET racism, and I know I have my parents to thank for that, and damn am I thankful. I like my friends because of that too, you lot are some of the most laid back, accepting people I know, and you have no idea what a relief it is to be able to come home and have an intelligent, reasonable and fun conversation with someone like that rather than talking to someone at work because there's honestly not anyone else to talk to.

I hate how stupid humans can be, when are they gonna get that people matter? All that other shit just adds flavour.

    ..:Fucking awesome:..

The Iron Man movie? was freaking AWESOME. How good you say? It gave a guy in the show before ours a fucking heart attack, no, really.

So, was sitting in line at the theatre, waiting for the start of the Iron Man movie, and this woman came shrieking out of the theatre, babbling like mad, and then all of a sudden there were 5 or 6 managers all milling about, 2 employees carried this guy out of the theatre andthen the EMS people arrived. He seemed to be OK after the ambulance crew arrived, but it was a bit disturbing to see the guy carried out of the theatre looking completely lifeless.

Was stuck in line for 2 hours or so waiting for all the others. Classic Tiff moment, she's all "Let's go to the 10pm showing of Iron Man" I agree, we make plans, then Tiff swans off to go to dinner with her parents while I'm stuck here sitting at the theatre in line, alone, waiting for all the rest of them to show up and bail me out.

More than worth it though. Stark was an unapologetic, arrogant asshole. He had his own plane, with a built in stripper pole. And shit blew up. ALOT. Also? hints at an avengers movie coming up, which would make Mere happy beyond all reason.

Hmmm, other news.... I got my old job back at Maplegate, I start in June, that is, if I can't find another job in the city before then. Which I hope I will, I hate commuting. This next week is going to be utterly MAD though. Here's the schedule: going to work at Maplegate Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to fill in for one of the girls who's out on holiday this week, have an Exam on Thursday, as well as work on Thursday night, then I have to accompany Jenn and the family to her mother's memorial service and wake on friday, saturday and sunday. No idea where we're going, but apparently it's going to take us a few hours to get there.

Now to sleep, as I'm probably going to spend all of tomorrow running around like mad.

    ..:Snorting Elephants:..

Okay, so the badness continues, now, not only are Jenn and I sick, so's the damn cat. Seriously, our apartment is not a fun place to be at the moment.

Well... aside from the fact that I just got Jenn's awesome present. Anyone who watches NCIS will appreciate this: it's a giant plushie elephant that snorts when you squish him, and snores. The cat, of course, hates the damn thing and won't go anywhere near it. But seeing as he's sick, this is not necessarily a bad thing.

Am going to have to spend all weekend cramming like mad for this damn exam in welsh. I'm still a good unit behind.... not good. But then again, once exams are all over and done with all I have to look forward to is a job hunt to end all job hunts. This is gonna suck.

Wow, this blog is so damn depressing, must cheer it up:

Season finale of torchwood is downloading to be watched tonight: sweet.

Season premier of Doctor Who is in 9 days: Supa sweet!!

They have started doing teasers for the new Eureka: Life is good.

Now back to work, where, because my boss is a tool, even though I don't actually move from one spot all day I'm not allowed a chair. My ankle looks like a grapefruit and I've been popping painkillers like candy, as soon as I get home I'm going to veg out and bask in the TV's soothing radiation

    ..:Ranting:..

Anyone up for some good quality ranting? go to KT's Blog Here and read her most recent post, I spent a good few minutes yelling at my computer till I realised I had caused the cat to flee in terror and he is now cowering in the closet. Ooops.

Just got back from the docs, I get to stay on the lovely mind numbing antibiotics for another 2 weeks, but then they say if I'm not better than they have no real clue what's wrong with me. Stupid wankers.

Still no luck finding a new job, and spent alot of last nights shift in quite a bit of pain seeing as the entire shift is spent on my feet and my boss "requested" that I work a double to cover someone who was sick. Grr.

Now: I have a question to put forth to everyone: I need songs and such that you associated with the following shows: Dr. Who, Torchwood, Bones, Stargate, Stargate Atlantis and NCIS.

Any suggestions would be good, am kinda interested to see what people come up with.

    .:Thursday, March 13:.

    ..:On break, kinda:..

Okay, so I am currently on break at work, and more tired than I've been in a long long time. Went to the doctors yesterday, got poked for a few hours, and they they concluded that my current state of misery could be attributed to several things:
1 - My poor abused kidneys have finally decided to move on to warmer pastures nad leave me to suffer and slowly turn yellow.
2 - Might be a mild form of diabetes acting up, so they're sending me to a dietician to see if that helps (although, what is the guy gonna say? You eat crap? I know this, I have no time/energy/money to have a proper diet)
3 - Some kind of viral chest infection that everyone at work has caught and is aparently going around campus.
4 - A sleep disorder, which I would have no time to fix until schools out, so even if it is that, there's no real help for me there.

So I got perscribed a whole pile of new drugs (which are probably useless) and then had to sit around for 2 and a half hours for them to fill the damn persciption for me, so I missed all 3 of my morning classes instead of just the one.

    I hate doctors.

No news or luck yet getting a summer job, so that kinda blows, I have a feeling I might end up crawling back to the trucking jobs for the summer, just cause I KNOW how to do it and it pays well enough that it might be worth it. Even if it might finally destroy my soul to go back there again.

Birthday is in a little over a week now, no real plans, I might just have a day where I unplug the phone, lock all the doors, dump the cat off at a friends and just vegetate and read all day. Haven't done that in quite a while now.

Today is the March Break orientation on campus, which means there are litterally hundreds of the little fuckers milling about and driving everyone on campus to distraction. I don't remember being that much of a shit at that age, even though I probably was, and I really don't understand how my parents can stand to have to teach those twatting wankers MATH every year, I would have gone batshit in the first week alone.

Anyway, break is now over, so it's back to smiling and pretending I'm NOT about to fall down dead at any given moment.

    .:Tuesday, March 4:.

    ..:compliments:..

Work is kinda crap this week. found out last night that I had a shift I didn't know about yesterday, and since I turned my cell off so I could study work couldn't get ahold of me. Add to that the rumour that someone is gonna get sacked soon due to all the tension in the place and it was not a fun place to be.

    And then it got better.

I haven't slept more than 3 hours, had no makeup on, had barely time to shower and scrape my hair into some semblance of order today, so I thought that today would be crap. Then one of my first customers looked up from counting out change, smiled at me and said "Wow, you're gorgeous." And that kinda made my day. No asking me out, or any comments expected back, he just said it and walked off smiling.

I kinda love it when people suprise you that way.

    ..:The good and the bad:..

So, literally 10 minutes after I signed off of my last blog I got asked out.

Yeah, suprised the hell out of me too.... I wasn't even wearing a boob-tastic top! (Kt, no comments on that). But his name is Matt, he's a comedian (no, really, that's his job) and a student. Really funny and a DAMN good kisser!

Work has continued their campaign of winning a spot in my heart as THE STUPIDEST PEOPLE EVER!! I work a grand total of 3 shifts this week cause they buggered up my schedule and had me working during time I had class (I know I'm good, but I'm not THAT good.)

Rogers internet is still not working, am reduced to using the net while at school and panicking the rest of the time. They had better fix it this week or something is liable to die soon.

KT seems to be having a wonderful time in aussie-land, damn her. She woke up to rolling waves and T-shirt weather. I woke up to a snowstorm that dumped a pile of slush down the back of my coat as I walked out the door. I hate Canada, am so tempted to bomb the country.......

Now off to surf the net for a few hours, as I have been HORRIBLY DEPRIVED OF PR0N FOR A WHOLE WEEKEND!! *sobs*

    Ahem, anyway.......

    ..:BuckWild:..

So. am sitting in the Hart House, listening to a KICK ASS band. Seriously, if anyone ever hears of the band BuckWild from Vancouver ever playing in your area, for the LOVE OF GOD go see them, cause they are an amazing show!

Have been without internet for a couple of weeks now cause rogers are ASSWIPES sometimes, seriously, annoying as hell.

This semester should be rather fun, aside from one class I have for Classics, which I think I might drop and take as a summer course, because the professor is so damn bad.

But I seem to have gotten pretty lucky with all my other new courses, of course, balancing bot full time school and full time work might literally drive me into a mental breakdown by March, but that's what Reading weeks for after all!!

Now am going to kick back and watch the show and relax for a bit.....

    .:Tuesday, December 18:.

    ..:Wasting time:..

So, am sitting in the hart house, trying to kill time before my exam tonight. Can't really study for this one as it's a blind essay. You go in, you sit down, and then you write for 3 hours and try to bullshit your teacher into believing that you've actually learned something this semester.

Anyway, as soon as I get home tonight it's back to the grind, have 2 more essays to pump out, and an assignment which I did do but I think my TA lost cause I got 0 on it, so need to re-write that.

On the other hand, work is being somewhat kinder to me these days. I specifically asked my boss for double shifts so I could make enough to take a few weeks off for christmas, and she goes "sure, no problem!". Then proceeds to give me reduced shifts and close the place early dso I get even few hours. Then she took off for a 2 week vacation so I can't even talk to her about it. But other boss cam in today tearing his hair out cause he has no cashier for the next week. So I pipe up "I can do that" and voila! More shifts. So I may be able to squek by after all!! Sweet!

Have spent the last week with my apartment being alternately dead silent or so freaking noisy one can't hear oneself think. Jenn's mum died on Wed, and we had the funeral on Mon. So we had Tiff, and KT up for 4 days, Michelle in from BC for 3 days, and Jenn's dad in for 2 days. Our apartment was rather crowded. On the other hand, got to repay the favours Michelle is always doing by getting HER addicted to a new show rather than the other way around for a change. She finished the first season on Dr. Who and had us burn of the rest. The virus spreads, excellent....

The funeral was beautiful, Jenn really does look like her mom, and they seemed to have had the smae odd quirky sense of humour judging from the stories people were telling about Cathy. Went to both the reception and the Wake, spent the wake trying to dodge Jenn's psychotic uncle who somehow cottoned on to the fact that I hate hugs and was chasing me around trying to hug me. Evil evil man, and a rather demonic sense of humour, I think he could give my dad a run for his money in the tormenting department.

Anyway, have to finish up work and exams this week, then it's home for a few days in Caledon. (Brining the kitten home with me, this should be interesting as my giant, 120lbs dog is terrified of my tinny little 7lb cat) Hopefully pick up the new computer as mine is truly on it's last legs and I want to get all my files tranferred over before it dies for good. Then the Weekend of Parties for KT, then moving across the courtyard, then New Years.

This is gonna be hectic to say the least.

    ..:Blogging from my brothers:..

So, am sitting about at my brothers house on a Saturday morning, relaxing after a night of bowling. (In which Bryanna, whom I had to show how to HOLD A BALL cause she hasn't played since we were little kids, kicked all our collective asses) Being bored, harassing the cats. Good lazy saturday.

Going to spend all tonight faffing about, all tomorrow and monday on this bloody essay and get it finished. Then, work and then HOLIDAYS!!!! Although this is gonna be rather interesting seeing as work is closed for 2 weeks, and I'm not sure if I'm gonna have enough money to cover this month. Isn't christmas fun? And just think, I have all my textbooks to buy for next term too!! Oh joy!!

Aparently my new compy is on the way, which is a damn good thing seeing as I got a call from Tiff yesterday that went something like this: "Ummmm, please don't kill me, but.... I think your computer has died. First it wouldn't load, then there was Blue Screen Of Death, then the DVD wouldn't play, then the SOUND wouldn't work...." I think it has officially died ladies and gentlemen.

Anyway - 1 more present to go. For my mother who is bloody impossible to shop for as always. She just doesn't WANT anything! It drives me crazy!

Anyway, back to T.O. I go.....

    .:Friday, December 7:.

    ..:Fandom, life and such:..

Okay, seeing as KT pointed out that I haven't posted in about a month, I figured it was time.

So, my life the past while. Am now working at Sammy' Student Exchange. It's not so bad, the work is easy, most of the people are fun, and I make a fortune the nights I work as a bartender. Have finished 2 of my exams, the most recent one was a bit of a mess though. The exam was on wednesday at 11 o'clock. My power went out, my alarm never went off. I slept right through the thing and woke up at 1 o'clock and promptly flipped out. Luckily my prof is a GODDESS and she let me re-write the exam yesterday. Seriously, gonna go buy her a really big pack of cookies. I love it when people suprise you in a good way!!

Heading home to Caledon in a few hours, bum about with the family for a day and just relax a bit. Then off to Kitchener on saturday to watch Tiff's Cicus show, should be fun! Me and Jenn are moving into one of the apartments across the courtyard over the break, so I get to rearrange everything and try and move in a day again. (this should be just.... so much fun). I have 2 more presents to go and then I'm finally done all my shopping. Just a few people are rather hard to shop for, or insist that they don't want a present. Well tough. You're getting one. End of story.

I have finally managed to infect both KT and Tiff with the love of Doctor Who. I did it through the new spin off: Torchwood. I figured if anything could seduce them over to the dark side of fandom, it would be my beloved intergalactic manwhore Captain Jack Harkness. And damn did he ever. I have endured rants that encompase both blessing and cursing me for getting them addicted. I have just one thing to say to them all: 17 days till new Who.

Now for KT's challenge: what fandom shaped your view of reality? Although I grew up watching and reading and being involved with ALOT of different fandoms, the one that truly changed it all: Narnia. My dad used to read me the books when I was little, till I was old enough to read them myself. Star Trek was great fun, and I loved Lord of the Rings, but I was so INVOLVED in Narnia. I used to put myself in the books, wandering about the house (and my friends houses, and grandparents, etc, etc...) opening wardrobe and closet doors and digging into them, hoping that this time I could find the door to Narnia, slip through the cracks in the world and go off anf have grand adventures with Aslan and the White Witch.

Life is gonna be rather dull the next few weeks: work, study, sleep. Lather, rinse, repeat. But I'll do what I've done every Christmas since I could read on my own: set aside a few days, curl up with my copies of Lord of the Rings and Narnia, and step out of the world for a little while.

    ..:I got the job!!:..

So, got the job down on campus that I wanted, it is 5 days a week though so I won't be working at medieval times after all (Srry to those who wanted to see me in wench gear, just wait till the ren faire next year)

Am dead tired, have far FAR too may fandoms to try and catch up on as well as massive soul sucking essay to work on this weekend. Blah.

Now to procrastinate for a few hours while I wait for this shift to be over.

    .:Thursday, October 25:.

    ..:1 down, 1 to go:..

So, Meredith has quit her current job, gove notice on Mon. Driving back and forth everyday is just too much and I get no time on campus to actually research anthing without planning it 3 weeks in advance and sacrificing a small animal to the gods for luck.

New job(s) are still yet to be found, sorta. I have been offered the job at Medieval Times as a wench (no comments), but it's only 2-3 shifts a week, so I do need to find another part time job to fill in the other hours I need. Job interview this afternoon for a pub on campus, would be wonderful if I could work there as it's literally next door to a bunch of my classes so I wouldn't need to worry about commuting at all. Sweet.

Went and got SmartServe certified on tues, this means I can legally serve alcohol in a restaurant, but it was easilly the most boring course in creation. They haven't changed the instruction video since the 80's. Literally. I haven't seen that much pouffy hair in quite a while. *shudders*

Anyway, off to dye hair a ridiculour color soon (I'm thinking bright purple and black) I figure I should do something fun with it while I'm still in Uni. Also - need to pierce something. Become a bit of a tradition that every time I quit a job I go and get a new hole punched in my body.

Kinda depressed though, moving the car into storage as paying for insurance and parking is ridiculous seeing as I live in the city, so will no longer be able to drive anywhere and everywhere at the drop of a hat. *angry face* KT is in Bramptonia, Jenn is gone constantly, Tiff is spending the year touring with the circus and Nat only comes over to mock me and eat my food. I need to convince the fangirls I've converted from my Welsh class to come do fannish things with me.

And Bryanna needs to come visit me..... I miss people!!

Now, back to studying for various midterms and trying to bully my brain into producing an actual essay instead of typing whatever comes to mind for 6 pages. Fun.

    ..:Ye Olde Blog:..

So, I'm currently at work, stuck inside an office way too fucking early on such a nice day, doing my usual yelling at people and running around like crazy trying to fix other peoples fuck-ups.

So, the last few weeks, because I've been so crazy busy it's not funny. Have started Uni again, and so far: it's not too bad. 2 of my classes are promising to be really good, one OK and one looks as if it will eat my soul. So all in all fairly normal for school.

Work has been.... hell. New trainee is wonderful and is actually competent at her job (thank you god!!) so it could be worse, but the switch from having a day to do work to having 3 or 4 hours is rather jarring.

Clases this year are as follows: Celtic Culture - good teacher, interesting subject, I think I'll like it, Intro to Welsh - Soul-sucking, this language is cool but make absolutely no logical sense. Is it sad that I kind of understand the non-logic? Effective writing - looks like alot of redundancy, but I need the refresher course on actually doing academics, and Literature for our tims - Prof is cool, the bader theatre is awesome for class and the stories we're studying are interesting. Sweet.

Oh! In the realm of the completely bizarre: I received an email yesterday from someone in Russia. Whose email ended in "Russianbrides.com", who was asking me to come away to Russia with him as he was a "good man, who respects women and will treat you well".

I was rolling around on the floor laughing my ASS off!!

Tonight is "Ye Olde Movie Festivities" Pt. Deux. The shoot-em-up night, I admit that KT has converted me, old movies have a kind of weird charm, and the wit is alot more subtle. It sidles up beside you and taps you on the shoulder instead of slamming you over the head with a two-by-four like todays movies.

Tiff's birthday is next week, damn you for being bloody hard to shop for you circus-freak!! Heroes starts in 3 days, supernatural in 2 weeks with all the others straggling in over the next month. Yay TV!!! God I'm a media whore.... I should go buy Supernatural S2..... after work.... or maybe right now, hello Amazon.ca and a credit card!!

Now, seeing as someone is calling me and calmly freaking out in my ear about customs, I must depart.

Let the torment begin, back to work I go.
