    ..:Dark Knight and Ren Faires:..

    Holy shit, the dark knight? Has become the top grossing movie of all time. It beat out spiderman, and took in 18 million on the night of the THURSDAY MIDNIGHT SCREENING alone. That's better than alot of movies do their whole run.

    Got home from the NY ren faire last night. Trip was loads of fun. I kinda miss road tripping with the girls, even if we do all want to kill each other by the end of the weekend.

    Got up there on friday and basically crashed after sorting out outfits for the next day, there were a couple of the vendors staying in the same B&B as us, so it was nice to be surrounded by the faire folk.

    Went up to the faire on saturday, after walking through walmart in full ren gear and getting STARED at. Alot. Pretty nice day for it all too, and there were a bunch of new vendors there this year, which was a cool suprise.

    Tiff, of course, had to see the new circus act that had just started and glare at them. (Whilst muttering a running commentary on their performance of course). Was good this year, did not buy the $1100 Boots o' Doom. Even if they were calling to me. Next year maybe. Picked up a few new necklaces, a pair of nice mugs and a bit of art. As well as the most awesome soap ever. There's a shop at the faire which does gourmet and odd soaps and perfumes and potions, and they had 2 I could not resist getting. Cinnamon and Oats, which smells like cookies and the country, made me kinda nostalgic, and Beggars Blend, which was beer, tobacco and leather. It smelled WONDERFUL and I cannot wait to use it.

    Got another ode composed to me, thank god KT and the others weren't there again, this one was mostly about how my skin was so nice because I didn't have leprosy. V Nice. I love faire folk. And according to Tiff, now that she's senn a circus show CAN work the ren circuit, she's determined to do it better. She wants to become a part of the faire, which somehow led to her deciding that me, the accident and injury prone clutz, is going to learn fire eating and juggling. I'm not going to have any eyebrows or eyelashes left, bet you $20.

    Went to see Hancock after the faire, was.... amazingly different from what I was expecting and very very good. Will definitely be buying that.

    Second day at the faire was spent trying not to drown under the torrential downpour that started and stopped all day. Then driving home and trying not to pass out in the car as I was supposed to be navigating.

    Got home, collapsed and unpacked. Prised the yowling cats off me who were demanding love and attention. (And food of course) Then crashed.

    Feel as if I haven't slept in a week, will likely go home and collapse this afternoon, but am distracted in the mean time with thoughts of costume designs and lighting things on fire.

    .:Monday, July 7:.

    Have been off caffeine, alcohol, milk and sugar since I got sick, and have to stay off all of the above for a minimum of another week. The only thing in the entire apartment I can drink is water and the only thing I can really eat without being violently ill is pasta or bread.

    Sick sucks.

    KT made a note today about associations with music, kinda interesting, she said I reminded her of songs by POE. Which I can live with, I like their music. She, on the other hand, will forever be associated with a weird mix of Garbage, and punk covers of bad power ballads.

    Went to the ren faire over the weekend, once again shocked and amazed all with my incredible ability to burn whilst wearing 55spf sunscreen. I think Tiff has given up on me not being all lobster-like for the summer.

    Also, next Feb is the NY Comic Con, where they have.... quite the guest list going. Neil Gaiman, the entire cast from Hellboy (yes Tiff, that includes Doug Jones)Stan Lee, Frank Miller, the writer for the Eternals and Arkham Asylum. If they end up getting Dave Mccean I may just have to sacrifics a small child so I am able to go, cause DAMN do I want to. Beej? Tiff? KT? You up for another con?

    In other news, it's looking more and more as if the "trip to England" may come down to the wire on funds, so I'll know aprox. at the end of the summer if I can actually manage to go, or if I'm going to have to put off vacation till next spring when I can go to Aussie and NZ with Jenn and KT.

    Why can't I just win the lotto and go to both?

    KT is home in 2 days, whilst at the ren faire I talked 3 total strangers into coming to Polaris with the lure of Cliff Simon and Gareth David-Lloyd, I feel like such a good productive fangirl!

    So, in just under a week KT will be back, Yay! I have missed my fangirling brethren and the horrible horrible spaz attacks that come after "who nights".

    The Casa Loma ren faire is this weekend, Polaris and the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibit are next weekend, and the Sterling Ren Faire is the weekend after that.

    Between it all we have Hellboy and the Dark Night, housewarmings amd family holidays, and a few weeks of doing nothing at work to fill up the days.

    I have a feeling this is gonna be a really good summer.

    ..:Faires, wings and things:..

    So my naval piercing got ripped out. Again. This is the 2nd time that this has happened. Got caught on my shirt this time though, and OW. It hurts every bit as much as I remember from last time.

    In other news, went to see Bourne identity yesterday. It is excellent and everyone should go and see it. Damn does that man kick some major ass. I haven't been in a movie that actually caused the audience to cheer in AGES.

    Faire report: bought an excellent flask and handthrown pottery mug, both are v. pretty and should be good for the upcoming pirate festival. Also bought a leather pouch so I don't have to haul around a purse anymore. And I found a coin necklace. I bought one last year and have another one that I've had for 8 years. And I FOUND this one. Went to the booth where they make them and was told that they had stopped making that design 7 years ago. Weird.

    Sunta bought the prettiest damn boots in the world. See:


    Handcrafted leather that they mold to your leg, these things cost a months rent and last for YEARS. I want a pair so bad it's not funny and I will never be able to afford the damn things.... *cries* Maybe 'Sunta will let me hold them....

    Now, off to shop for cosplay supplies and go to an art show. And laundry. Must do laundry soon, I think my laundry hamper is about to gain sentience and crawl off to the laundromat all by itself.

    ..:Harry Potter:..

    So, went to see Harry Potter last night with Tiff and a few of her girls. Was OK, not the best movie I've ever seen (like Tiff was saying) but it was good. They cut ALOT of things in the edit, which I can understand, seeing as it was the biggest book in the series, but lets hope that none of the stuff they cut becomes important later....

    Went back to Tiffs, where she plied me with food and, strangely enough, the published work of a fanfic author I rather like(legitimately, through a publishing company and everything).

    Drove home, almost hit a deer and a cat, so pretty typical for me. Seriously, my car has a homing beacon for animals or something.

    This weekend is the combined hair-cut/dye, sort out designs for the cosplay and sort out final course schedule for next year. Fun.

    Oh, and to those going to NY with me for the Faire, the 2 weekends I think we are all availible is August 3rd or the August 10th weekend. So we need to pick one and stop procrastinating. And yes I include myself in the we, I am the most inept person at planning these things EVER.

    ..:It was the best of times, it was the worst of times....:..

    Weekend both rocked and blew. Renfaire on Sat was great fun, got to ponce and had lots of fun. On the other hand, I also tripped on my way up to the castle and split my toe into bits. it's all gross and bloody and I left an actual BLOOD TRAIL that we found walking back. Ew. Although walking up Spadina in full Gypsy regalia with a Spanish Noble and her Lady In Waiting got ua a few.... interesting looks, and a tour bus that passed us went frantic trying to get photos.

    Friday we had the best of Stargate, ahh the memories.... God I love my show. KT, drag your ass downtown so we can continue the fest and then go watch giant robots destroy the world!!

    Sunday went home to Caledon for the yearly Canada day party that my high school friends throw at Kyle's house every year. God I missed those people. Good food, swimming and fireworks. Only problem is that since my friend Kyle is an electrician and my friend James is studying Stage effects, our firework shows are rather.... big. Really big.

    $600 worth of fire works and we had the fire department and the cops out to have a "talk" with us. Brilliant, celebrate the birth of your country by blowing up a small piece of it.

    Now am back at work with singed hair, a gory toe, very little sleep and a crapload of good memories.

    Let's do that again!!!
