Went to the Science Center today for my little sis's 20th birthday. Congrats B, you're officially a real person once again.
Saw the body worlds exhibit. Fascinating, disgusting and horrifyingly beautiful all at once. They really did do some incredible work with the presentation... The bodies seemed to be predominately males, with the most recent exhibit featuring more women. I wonder what inspired the men to donate their bodies first and the women second? Natural modesty? Worried about what an "artistic" presentation of deceased human bodies would entail?
All in all the exhibit was really amazing, very glad I actually got a chance to see it this time around, and spent the day with the whole family. Whom, after going to the science center, spent lunch and the ride home debating such a wide variety of subjects that I was really stunned by how different and yet similar all my siblings are. I LOVE that about my family!!
I really do believe that the science center is one of the best things in the world to take a kid to, and I'm happy to see that it's still doing so well. Honestly, I've gone probably more than a dozen times and yet I STILL spent six hours in there today and was yet to be bored. So very cool.
Am still working on getting everything set up for AT for the One of a Kind show. Will be crashing at Tiff's for 2 weeks while I work down there, gotta love friends with free couches and an understanding nature! Shall have to see about picking up something cool for her at the show, they always have SOMETHING that jumps out at me for everyone.
Unfortunately this weekend has also brought about the release of the next installation of the cinematic tragedy known as Twilight. Which means that the next few weeks shall bring scores of small, not terribly intelligent tweens looking for sparkly T-shirts with vampires and Edward written all over them.
What fun.
Ah well, shall spend tomorrow up at AT's studio working on tagging all the stuff for the show and hopefully talking Gracie into giving me a new haircut or at least a trim.... am debating whether or not to go purple again for a few months... might be a bit of fun for the Christmas season...
Am sitting at home on a lazy saturday night. Just got back in from having a drink with Gilly in the backyard. It's incredibly foggy out and all of outside is all soft edges and eddies of mist.
Last few weeks have been pretty fun. Had my brothers birthday party (ended in said brother running around in a batman onesie. Don't ask.) Spent a few days up in Caledon with my parents and sister, and got hired on to do the one of a kind show with Annnie Thompson.
Annie is an amazingly talented designer whose clothes run more to women of a more... rounded figure than most fashion and are actually very flattering. And I get to spend the whole show while I'm working WEARING the clothing as a kind of a walking billboard.
This is gonna be a blast.
In the meantime, I'm gonna grab a cat, a sibling and a fresh glass of wine and see about watching a movie. I love Saturdays. Next week I'm headed out to see the Tut exhibit at the ROM, the BodyWorlds exhibit at the science centre and the Star Wars concert at the ACC as a gift from Tiff.
So, was sitting in my car today, discussing Supernatural and such with the little sis. And I asked the question. You know, THE question: How the hell is Kripke going to top doing the freaking APOCALYPSE this past season.
Bryanna, being the brilliant sibling that she is, has been the first person with a satifactory answer. For no sooner had I asked this than she come back with "Carebears." The Winchesters VS the Carebears. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!! Or, you know, me.
This past weekend was Tiff the Majestics birthday party. Steampunked ourselves out, then went out for food. Found the orgasm cake from the matrix, it was SO damn good. Then headed off to futures for tea and company. Good night.
Computer has died yet again, am currently using the baby sis's compy back in caledon as I complete some work around the house for the parents. Oh joy. Oh Rapture. Housework. I don't even LIVE here anymore and I'm doing chores.
Trying to get some stuff together for Tiff's steampunk style birthday in a couple of weeks, still trying to figure out a present for the girl as well. (what do you buy for the girl who buys EVERYTHING?!)
Working on another layout for this blog again, hopefully I can get it up and running sometime in the next couple of weeks, although I have to find another copy of Photoshop as mine un-installed itself for some gods-forsaken reason.
In the meantime, I have a belly-full of damn fine chinese food, a new book in my hands and a good old movie on TV.
Ohhhh, so tired. Yesterday I was supposed to go out around 7:30 and see Passchendaele with Brynne. Then I got out of work, and started driving home, and was immediately enmeshed in the traffic on the way home, it snowed yesterday and everyone in the GTA immediately forgot how to drive properly. It took me 2 and a half HOURS to get home. Grr, haate people, it's just snow! It didn't even stick! Calm down!
So ended up grabbing the 10pm show instead last night, good to see Brynne again, of only briefly, and as for the movie... Some parts really were well done, but I agreed with Brynne's opinion that the love scenes were so damn over the top it was silly, and REPEDITIVE, and also? WORST DEATH SCENE EVER!!! Absolutely daft famous last words for one of the characters, Daft I say.
It did show the horror of war incredibly well though, and the weird shit and stories that they come across in war. Absolutely horrifiying, but with that edge of humor Paul Gross seems to bring to all his projects.
Meh, conflicted, I liked it but at the same time it drove me kinda mad.
This weekend is the everything to do with sex show down at the convention center, haven't decided if I want to go yet, but I think it would be a blast if I could talk a few others into coming. This Sunday me, Shilo, Kat and a few others are going to see Jackalope and the Birthday Massacre. Should be a fun show.
Both Owen and Beej's birthdays are in the next month, and christmas just after that, and I am LOST as to what I should get people... Suggestions anyone? Pretty much the only people I have sorted are KT and my mum, the rest of you lot? ARE FRACKING IMPOSSIBLE TO SHOP FOR!
Am going to shoot Tiff as she has made me betray myself and actually enjoy.... So You Think You Can Dance Canada.... There was a hot mowhawked punk! Dancing to queen! Shirtless! With black angel wings, I was weak... *sobs*
Now tell me that's not tempting as all hell.
Am trying to put together a trip in the spring, can't decide if I want to do BC and San Fran or one of the 2, I guess it depends on what I can afford. Ideally I'd win the lotto and immediately go visit KT is OZ then do San Fran for a week on the way home and BC for a second week. It would be AWESOME. But, as I am broke I will likely resort to last-minute flight deals and the tolerance of friends in BC with free couches and sleeping bags.
Bah.
I think I might ask my dad for air miles as a christmas/birthday present this year, god knows I'm asking everyone else I know for practical shit. Like plates and such.
I really, really want to ask for comics, damn you adulthood!
Allright, people keep harrasing me about presents and such for my Birthday, and honestly? There's not a hell of alot that I want. Anyone artistic *cough, Kat and Drew, cough* I have NO problems getting artistic stuff for my birthday, if a bunch of people wanted to chip in together maybe season 4 of NCIS? or season 3 of Battlestar? Ummm, comics, House of M? other than that I really can't think of anything... New shoes maybe? Or creepy stuffies, ummmmm.... yeah. That's all I've got, unless someone want's to help me pay off my damn credit card, that's the only thing I really NEED right now....
Oh!, and for those who wanted to see the photo of me from the zombie birthday party, here:
I am currently dead exhausted, about a week behind on my school work seeing as I didn't GET a reading week due to the bosses at work being twat's. However: Saturday is the sister's birthday and we're doing a zombie-style birthday party, which promises to be a great amount of fun.
Note to self: post photo's.
In other news, am trying to sort out summer trips and employment and working out if I can afford to go out on a trip with Tiff and visit KT out in Oz. I think I might have to take up a friends offer and work as a stewardess for the summer seeing as them I can fly for a great deal less.
Also? I have just found out that Guillermo del Toro is doing the Hobbit. I am a happy happy fangirl.
